Terms
Plain terms for a small app. Using Skein means agreeing to these.

Who can use Skein
You must be 18 or over, and you must be a real person using your own identity. One account per person. Accounts are not transferable and may not be sold.
Skein is currently open in Tampa Bay and Tuscaloosa. Outside those areas you can join the waiting list, but you cannot create a profile.
What you post
You keep ownership of your photos and words. You give us permission to show them inside the app to the people the app shows them to, and to store and process them so it can do that. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
Do not post anything you do not have the right to post, anything of someone else without their agreement, or anything the community rules prohibit. We can remove content and end accounts for breaking those rules. We review reports, and we would rather explain a decision than hide behind a form.
Skein+
Skein+ is $5.99 a month. It buys read receipts, view history, rewinds, a monthly allowance of Spools, early access to Gathering tickets, and cosmetic themes. It does not buy more people per day, more messages, or any kind of boosted visibility — that is the one thing it will never sell, and it is why the price stays low and fixed.
Subscriptions are billed through the App Store or Google Play, renew automatically, and are cancelled in those stores rather than by writing to us. Cancelling stops the next charge; the current period runs out. Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their own policies.
Spools are a consumable inside the app. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and do not survive account deletion.
Gatherings
Gatherings are real events run at real venues. Tickets are sold for a specific event and are not generally refundable once bought, except where the event is cancelled or moved, in which case you get your money back. Skein is not the venue and does not control what happens in it.
Meeting people
Verification confirms a real person is holding a phone. It is not a background check and it is not a guarantee about anyone's character. Use the tools in the Safety Center, tell someone where you are going, and meet somewhere public the first time.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, and the purge starts immediately. We can suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or the community rules, or where we are required to. Where we can tell you why, we do.
The legal part
Skein is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it running and accurate, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Altros Studios is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app, or for what another user does. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. If a part of them is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
Changes
If these terms change materially we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Skein after that means accepting the new version.
